June 7th, Holdon's 4th Birthday

Well, since he doesn't really have a social circle established yet we had a family fun filled birthday and a few drop ins from both our sets of amazingly considerate and sweet neighbors! We first took Holdon to the Fred Mayer store and let him pick out a few of his own presents Venom from spider man 3 and a dinosaur (of coarse) and Adam got him a set of Lego's for his Lego table. Oh yes! He also got 10 dollars from grandmother Kay and picked himself out a new bionical! That was very exciting too.

Then we headed home, had a surprise visit from Gail our neighbor who brought him a really cool beach toy set for his birthday, did a few chores around the house ate lunch and then headed to the Bowling alley in Astoria. This was Holdon's 1st time ever trying to bowl but I thought he handled it really well. Attention span was as to be expected for his age and he lost interest about the 6Th frame or so but he came back and threw a couple more later in the game to finish it up.

After the bowling alley, we drove up to the column a very historic touristy thing to do and checked out the view and got some info about it's history and such then headed back down the hill to the theater to see Shrek 3. I think we all really enjoyed it but the humor I think catered more to the adults than the kids.

After the movie, around 5:45PM, we headed home and made what Holdon wanted for dinner which was Chicken breasts. We baked the chicken in the oven and made some mashed potatoes. But it was so late getting dinner started that we had our neighbors the Goody's come over and do cake with us prior to dinner! They called and said they wanted to bring him a present from them and the Ackley's. To nice I know! We barely met them and I feel like we've all known each other for years. It's quite comforting actually. They bought him some awesome power ranger action figures and a really cool beach set of toys as well as this really neat monster toy that you can draw on and stincle stuff onto; then wash it, dry it and start over again fresh and clean!

Holdon picked out a strawberry cake with a cream cheese icing and I chopped some fresh strawberries to top it off. We also decorated the cake with decorations I had left over from Easter cookie decorating! LOL! All in all I think he had a pretty nice birthday.
Enjoy the few pictures I got that day!
